"This is the worst gift the 26 women of Morong 43 could ever receive this centennial celebration of International Women's Day," Maza said.
Makabayan-Nacionalista senatorial bet Liza Maza expressed deep disappointment over the Court of Appeals decision junking the petition for habeas corpus of the so-called Morong 43.
"I expected the CA to uphold justice and grant the 43 health care workers freedom from the custody of the AFP in Camp Capinpin, considering the many violations committed against them during their arrest, not to mention the different forms of torture they have to endure while in detention," Maza said.
"This is the worst gift the 26 women of Morong 43 could ever receive this centennial celebration of International Women's Day," Maza said.
Gabriela representative and Makabayan-Nacionalista senatorial candidate Liza Maza led thousands of women in a nationwide march against any attempt of PGMA to perpetuate self in power in the coming May 2010 elections. The march marked the centennial celebration of International Women's Day on March 8.
“Women bore the brunt of the shameless corruption and lies that characterize the almost decade-long rule of President Arroyo. We are struggling against the perennial economic crisis brought about by her brazenly mismanaged administration. We should not allow the continued stay in power of this anti-woman president, most especially her attempt to become the prime minister through the coming congressional elections," Maza said.
Nacionalista-Makabayan senatorial candidate Rep. Liza Maza of Gabriela expressed dismay over the latest decision of the Supreme Court affirming the constitutionality of the US-RP Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA).
"The Supreme Court decision shows the Philippine government’s continued subservience to the interests of the United States government,” Maza said.
Maza is a co-petitioner in the joint motion with former senator Jovito Salonga, together with Evalyn Ursua, the lawyer of alleged rape victim Suzette Nicolas, and lawyer Neri Colmenares representing militant groups Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan).
