Makabayan-Nacionalista Party senatorial bet Rep. Liza Maza strongly condemned the physical and mental torture, most importantly the Nazi-styled sexual perversion and abuse, of the detained health workers popularly known as the "Morong 43" by the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and demanded for their immediate release from detention which she claims was illegal in the first place.
"Manyakis!," Maza accused the AFP. "Hindi lang mga pasista ang mga militar na yan, mga manyak pa! Wala silang pinagkaiba sa mga Nazi ng Germany. (The members of the AFP are not only fascists but perverts. They are following the footsteps of Germany's Nazi)," Maza said.
“The arrest of doctors and health workers, most of them women health workers including midwives, violates the right of women as enshrined in the Magna Carta to be provided with maternal and child care in the communities of Rizal. They should be released immediately and the military who enforced their arrests should be held accountable”.
Thus said Nacionalista-Makabayan Senatorial bet Rep. Liza Maza today as she expressed her strongest condemnation to the recent illegal raid and abduction of 43 community health workers and professionals,
including 26 women who were conducting health skills training in Morong, Rizal yesterday.
Nacionalista-Makabayan Senatorial candidate Rep. Liza Maza today expressed alarm on the rising cases of child abuse in the country saying that this concern should be on top of the agenda of all those who are running for electoral posts in the 2010 national elections.
“This is alarming. The rising cases of child abuse only manifest government neglect on the rights and welfare of children. As a signatory to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, our government should be in the forefront in ensuring that our children are protected from all forms of abuse,” Maza said.
