'Villarroyo' does not exist, otherwise we would not have allied ourselves with Sen. Villar - Satur

Makabayan senatorial bet and Nacionalista Party guest candidate Satur Ocampo today said that the attempts of the Liberal Party (LP) to link Nacionalista Party standard bearer Sen. Manny Villar to the Arroyos have failed to convince his own and running mate Liza Maza's supporters of the existence of such a nefarious alliance.

"As far as we're concerned, there is no 'Villarroyo.' It's all a concoction of the spin doctors of LP to destroy Sen. Villar's credibility and by extension, Makabayan's alliance with him. Rep. Maza and myself and the Makabayan Coalition would not have agreed to be guest candidates of NP if we believed even for a second that Sen. Villar has ties with the Arroyos. Our alliance with Sen. Villar also has to do with our common stand against the corruption of the Macapagal-Arroyo presidency. We would have immediately reconsidered our alliance with Sen. Villar if he had agreed to any form of cooperation with the Arroyos," Ocampo said.

Makabayan-Nacionalista Party convoy stopped by police in Gumaca, Quezon

A convoy of five Makabayan jeepneys and a bus of presidential candidate Manny Villar were stopped and held for 30 minutes in a checkpoint by police authorities manning a Comelec checkpoint in Gumaca, Quezon today.

Makabayan-Southern Tagalog suspects that this may be a conscious effort to delay and harass the campaign sorties in Quezon of Makabayan and the Nacionalista Party.

According to RJ Mabilin of Makabayan-Southern Tagalog, the convoy was on its way to a campaign sortie from Los Baños, Laguna to Lopez, Quezon when it was flagged by cops at the Comelec checkpoint. The cops demanded that the drivers of the vehicles surrender their driving licenses and registration, but they refused.

NP to LP: EDSA I is not yours

No one has franchise to historical event

Candidates of the Nacionalista Party (NP) yesterday warned the Liberal Party (LP) against “desecrating” the essence of the EDSA I celebration by using the event to further its political interests.

NP guest senatorial candidate and Bayan Muna Rep. Satur Ocampo cautioned the LP from “owning” EDSA I as this historical event was not headed by a particular group.

“Ang EDSA I ay isang specific na event na hindi pinangunahan ng isang partikular na grupo. Walang may franchise sa EDSA I. It is not theirs (LP),” Ocampo said during a press conference in Balete, Aklan.
